Augustine Eguavoen has resigned from his role as the head coach of the Nigerian national team with immediate effect after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Eguavoen stepped down from his role just three months after he took over from Gernot Rohr.
The former Super Eagles defender was named as interim manager of the the national team in December following the sacking of Gernot Rohr after five years.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to release an official statement. But it is now clear that the Super Eagles will soon have a new coach.
According to reports, Eguavoen will now return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams.
