Bukayo Saka is one of the most valuable players in the world with a price tag of £85million, according to a new study.
The CIES Football Observatory believes the Englishman is among the top 15 players in the world with the highest value behind the likes of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe who takes the top spot with a staggering valuation of £176.18m.
Saka is worth more than any other Arsenal player in the rankings at £85.2m ahead of Emile Smith Rowe valued at £53.1m, Martin Odegaard (49.3m) and Aaron Ramsdale (43.7m). The winger’s valuation last August, which was between £59m-£76m, has skyrocketed as his meteoric rise continues off the back of another impressive campaig n that saw him score 12 goals and chip in with seven assists across all competitions as Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League.
Saka’s near-£90m valuation puts him high up on the list ahead of a series of marquee players including Bruno Fernandes, Kai Havertz, Reece James, Tottenham ‘s Harry Kane, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kevin De Bruyne and £100m man Jack Grealish.
Grealish became the most expensive Premier League transfer last summer as he arrived at the Etihad while Kane threatened to break that record in the same window as Pep Guardiola’s men targeted the Spurs talisman.
Arsenal are desperate for Saka to commit his future with the club with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2024. Talks are ongoing but both parties have been unable to come to an agreement yet.
Saka has carried a heavy load for Arsenal since the start of last season with the 20-year-old making 102 appearances for club and country during that span.
England are amid a run of four Uefa Nations League matches in the space of 11 days and the Spaniard said he would speak to Gareth Southgate about Saka’s workload this summer, insisting “he needs a rest”.
He needs a break, that is for sure. He has played a lot of minutes this season and he played a lot of minutes last season.
You expect your important players to do so, to have that ability and show the quality that Bukayo has shown consistently throughout the season. But obviously you have to bear in mind that at some stage he needs to rest. That is something we really need to think about, the plans for him in the summer.
