Bayern Munich and Canada star Alphonso Davies has said he plans to donate all of his World Cup earnings to charity.

Davies was born in a refugee camp in Ghana, where his parents were fleeing the war in Liberia, his country of origin.

In 2005, when Davies was five years old, his parents were able to emigrate to Canada.

Now, the full-back has made it public that he wants to give back to his country for all that it has given him throughout his life in the form of a donation from the profits he makes from the World Cup

Davies posted on his social media:

Canada welcomed me and my family & gave us the opportunity for a better life. it enabled me to live my dreams.

It’s a great honour to play for Canada and I want to give back, so I’ve decided that I will donate this years World Cup earnings to charity.

The Canadian men’s national team has been drawn into Group F of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, alongside Belgium, Morocco and Croatia.

And this will be the nation’s second World Cup tournament.
