Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has sealed a move to SD Ponferradina in the Spanish second division following the termination of his contract with SD Huesca in April.
Although details of the contract in terms of fee and duration were not revealed by the second division side, the 24-year-old is expected to play a key role in the club’s quest to gain promotion to La Liga next season.
A statement from the club’s website read:
Kelechi Nwakali is a new player for SD Ponferradina.
The new blue-and-white midfielder will continue his career in LaLiga SmartBank, in which he has competed in the last two campaigns at AD Alcorcon and SD Huesca.
Nwakali’s contractual dispute with Huesca led to his exit from the club as he claimed relationships got severed following his insistence on being at the AFCON.
Nwakali made 21 apappearance for Huesca in all competitions during the 2021/2022 season.
