Erling Haaland scored a brace on his English Premier League debut as Manchester City beat West Ham United 2-0 at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Haaland, who has scored his side’s opener for the third season in a row, scored from a penalty in the first half and then a made a well-timed run in the second half for his second goal.

Erik ten Hag’s first English Premier League game in charge of Manchester United ended in a 2-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.

A brace from Pascal Gross in the first half gave Brighton a comfortable lead until 68 minutes when Alexis Mac Allister scored an own goal.

However, United were unable to convert any chances, giving Brighton their first-ever win at Old Trafford.

Leicester City had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Brentford at the King Power in the 2022/23 season opener on Sunday.

The Foxes led 2-0 through a first-half goal from Timothy Castagne and a second-half strike by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Ivan Toney drew one back for the visitors on the hour mark and Josh Dasilva levelled it just before injury time to earn a point for the visitors.

On Saturday, Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham, while Tottenham and Chelsea won in their EPL Openers. And on Friday night, Arsenal began their 2022-23 EPL season with a 2-0 victory over London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
