Real Madrid legend Marcelo has been linked with a shock Deadline Day transfer to Leicester City.

In a remarkable turn of events, the iconic Brazilian left-back is reportedly inching closer to a one-year-deal with Brendan Rodgers’ side on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The news was remarkably first revealed on social media by YouTuber Marti Miras, who hosts his own Spursito football channel.

He tweeted:

The former Real Madrid player is VERY CLOSE to signing for Leicester City. In the absence of passing a medical examination, he would sign until June 2023. More information in the next few hours.

The 34-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Real Madrid as their most decorated player ever with 25 trophies at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. He ended his final season in the Spanish capital with his fifth Champions League winners’ medal.

He also has a sensational six La Liga titles to his name, along with earning 58 caps with the Brazil national team.

Marcelo’s highly-respected standing among the game’s all-time greatest left-backs, as well as his age, make reports of a move to the King Power a huge surprise to many.

It comes amid an already extremely busy transfer window for the Foxes.

Leicester had just announced the signing of defender Wout Faes from French side Reims on Deadline Day.

Faes, who first came through the ranks at Anderlecht, joins Rodgers’ men on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The Belgium international was signed as a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who joined Chelsea for £70m on Wednesday.
