Tottenham closed the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal to a point as Harry Kane scored twice and Son Heung-min added a third in a comfortable English Premier League win over the 10-man Gunners.

Kane sent visiting goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way from the penalty spot after 22 minutes, capitalising after Cedric shoved Son in the back while defending a cross.

Rob Holding, who had already been booked for a foul on Son, was then sent off for elbowing the striker in the face as he tried to race on to a long ball.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta opted not to strengthen his defensive ranks in response to Holding’s dismissal, and Arsenal swiftly suffered the consequences of their numerical disadvantage.

Four minutes after the red card, Emerson Royal nodded a corner into the path of the unmarked Kane at the far post, who nudged the ball in for his 13th goal in 17 North London derby appearances.

Arteta’s misery was compounded two minutes after half-time when Kane held the ball up in front of goal and teed up Son to smash a shot beyond a crowd of defenders to make it 3-0 in the North London Derby.

The result means fifth-placed Spurs move to within a point of Arsenal in fourth spot, with just two matches to play.

Next up, Spurs host Burnley on Sunday while Arsenal visit Newcastle on Monday.
