Tottenham fans may have to wait to see their new man in action after being given a one-match ban for an incident that occurred whilst playing for Everton.
Richarlison has been banned for his first game with Tottenham Hotspur and also fined £25,000 (N13m) by the English Football Association after he threw a smoke bomb during his time at Everton.
The 25-year-old picked up a blue smoke bomb and threw it off the pitch after he had finished celebrating scoring the winner against Chelsea on May 1.
No harm was caused but in the English FA rule book, a crime was committed.
An official FA statement said:
An independent regulatory commission has suspended Richarlison de Andrade for one match and fined him £25,000 following a breach of FA Rule E3 that took place during a Premier League game on Sunday 1 May 2022.
The Tottenham Hotspur FC forward admitted that his conduct while playing for Everton FC during the 46th minute of this game against Chelsea FC was improper, and his sanction was imposed during a subsequent hearing.
This means that the new Tottenham signing will now be unavailable for their English Premier League game against Southampton on August 6.
The Brazil international joined Spurs earlier this month in a transfer worth around £60m (N31b).
Richarlison will, however, be available to make his competitive debut when Antonio Conte’s side face Chelsea on August 13.
