After a goalless first half, Spain took the lead through Esther Gonzalez in the 54th minute to put England on the back foot, but Ella Toone grabbed an 84th minute equaliser to send the game to extra-time.
And within six minutes of the first half of extra time, England midfielder Georgia Stanway unleashed a screamer from outside of the box that flew into the back of the net to turn the game on it’s head and put the Lionesses 2-1 up.
9 – Alessia Russo has been directly involved in nine goals in her 11 games for England (7 goals, 2 assist), while eight of her goal involvements for the Lionesses have come as a substitute (6 goals, 2 assist). Influence. #WEURO2022 pic.twitter.com/Xbiqoesqm5
